King Lear

UCD Dramsoc

UCD Dramsoc is proud to present William Shakespeare’s King Lear, directed by Harry Eaves and assistant directed by Rebecca Ngoie.

This Shakespearean play tells the tale of King Lear, whose tragic end is the result of his own wish to divide the kingdom amongst his three daughters, in proportion to their love for him.

This production focuses on core themes including power, justice, family, and masculinity, placing Shakespeare’s tragedy in the late 20th century Irish countryside, adapting the narrative and its main themes to a more contemporary and identifiable setting.

See UCD Dramsoc’s King Lear in Astra Hall Wednesday 15th and Friday 17th of January at 7pm.
